The National Academy of Marine Research, founded on April 24, 2019, is an institute under the Ocean Affairs Council featuring five primary business units (Marine Planning and Training Center, Marine Policy and Culture Center, Marine Science and Information Research Center, Marine Ecology and Conservation Research Center, Marine Industry and Engineering Research Center) and three secondary units, assisting in the organization of marine policy planning, marine resource survey, marine science research, marine industry and talent nurturing and development business, thereby stimulating the sustainable development of the national economy through integrating national marine research capacity, enhancing national marine science research ability, developing marine research critical mass, and enhancing marine industry competitive advantages, hence it is positioned as the National marine think tank.
