Long-term observation and investigation program in the southwestern sea area of

                                                        Pingtung

With the impact of the intrusion of the branch of Kuroshio Current, the coastal waters at the
southwest of Pingtung, it forms an ideal fishing ground. It is a very suitable sea area for developing
aquafarm. Due to the impact of global climate change, the frequency of downpours and cold
current in Taiwan has reached new highs, which caused significant economic losses in aquaculture
fisheries. This project plans to install Real-time current profiles and directional waves for
intermediate water (AWAC system) in the water zone of Checheng to enhance the quality of the
observation of sea weather on the southwest coast of Taiwan. A 3D Operational Ocean Current
Forecasting System and ROMS model, SWAN wave model, and seawater temperature trends
forecast will be installed for the study of collected data to simulate the sea weather and water quality
in the water zone in southwestern Taiwan. Multiple regression analysis will be used to construct
a forecasting formula with the sea temperature, temperature, and wind speed as factors to forecast
the weather two days in advance. The results indicate that the forecast formula is highly accurate
in the forecasting of the sea temperature throughout the year.

                     Marine culture and ecological conservation

Amis's traditional marine knowledge research commissioned service proposal

In 2019, the rites and process of the sea ritual of Torik tribe (males could participate only)

In the past, there was insufficient and incomplete study of the marine culture of the Amis tribe
living by the coastal areas. Most of the studies were conducted with the thinking of the land.
Moreover, a high percentage of indigenous people move to urban areas in contemporary times.
There is the necessity for the legacy and preservation of the marine knowledge, formed from the
intimate interaction between Amis people and the sea, of Amis people. This project investigates
the traditional marine knowledge of Amis people living in five coastal areas to stipulate the strategy
of the conservation and legacy of Amis marine culture. Amis marine culture camp will be held to
