MARE 是什麼？
長期以來，勞倫斯科學廳（Lawrence Hall of Science, LHS）針對社會大眾與學校學生，致力執行
國家規模的計畫，以提升海洋素養。勞倫斯科學廳的「海洋活動與資源教育」（Marine Activities,
Resources & Education, MARE）計畫——全校實施的海洋科學跨領域浸潤式計畫——提供專業
發展給教師，分享課程教材與資源給家庭，歷時 20 年之久。在美國，這是目前中小學海洋課程之
中，歷史最悠久的。如需發展資訊，可於 MARE 網站取得（http://lawrencehallofscience.org/
mare/）。MARE 與克里斯普斯海洋研究所（Scripps Institution of Oceanography）和探索學
院（College of Exploration）合作，是目前 12 個海洋科學教育卓越國家中心（National Centers
for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence, COSEE, http://www.coseeca.net/）的其中一個。
MARE 在發展海洋素養的領域，扮演領導的角色，並發展出《K-12 的海洋科學基本原則》（Ocean
Literacy: The Essential Principles of Ocean Sciences K-12, http://www.oceanliteracy.org/）
