Former NAMR President Chiu Yung-Fang Awarded First Class Professional Medal for Marine Research

President Chiu Yung-Fang retired on June 30, 2022, after serving as the Director of the Preparatory Office of the National Academy of Marine Research (NAMR) since 2018. After the establishment of the NAMR on April 24, 2019, President Chiu became the first President of the NAMR and led colleagues hand in hand in many key research projects and endeavors. During his term of office, he is noted for spearheading two projects, including the "National Ship Model Laboratory Multifunctional Water Tank Construction Project" and the "Marine Basic Data Survey Vessel Construction Project" which were approved by the Executive Yuan with a total funding of NT$6.2 billion yuan, contributing to the development of ocean affairs and marine research. He also actively facilitated the signing of MOUs with many partner institutions and schools. Under President Chiu’s outstanding leadership, the NAMR has achieved many outstanding results.
To recognize President Chiu’s lifelong dedication and passion for the ocean, the First Class Professional Medal for Marine Research and the First Class Service Medal for Civil Servants were presented at the handover ceremony to thank President Chiu for his hard work and dedication to the country and the NAMR.
